Software:
Overall, the Bodog Life Poker 31.8 MB software is among the best offered in the entire industry. It runs smooth and quickly, is incredibly secure, has an easy-to-use interface and, most impressive, offers players multiple options to customize their play. The graphics, statistics functions, and multi-table options are all very solid as well.
Table:
(For a list of games offered scroll down the page to our game variety section). One of the most noticeable aspects of the table view are the graphics. Bodog has abandoned the table/3-D avatar approach to the layout and, instead, players simply are represented by icons on a flat, neverending, surface. The result is a clean display that assists in the quality of the overall game play.
While at the table, on the right side of the screen there is a log of the games events as well as dialog box for player chat. In the bottom right, there is also a stats tab that allows you to track your own performance. The stats provided include your personal viewed-flop percentage, hands per hour, win percentage, and fraction of showdowns won.
Finally, there are “Profiles” and “Notes” tabs that allow you take down stats and descriptions of opposing poker players. In fact, you are even able to develop customizable player profiles to help you classify/grade your opponents and remember their weaknesses for the next time you meet.
As for multi-table options, the software only lets you play at up to three tables simultaneously, sitting at the bottom position at all tables. You can view all three games while in the same window, or you can choose to have a mini view of any or all three tables should you choose. The multi-table play runs very smoothly and, despite three games being the max, is a powerful aspect of the software.
Lobby:
Each game in the lobby can be sorted by type of poker game (Omaha, etc.), limit, stake and the number of people seated/waiting. There are also table statistics which you can sort by that include viewed-flop percentage, average pot size and hands per hour.
The lobby also shows you the sit-and-go tournaments, a tournament schedule and provides a “QuickSeat” option to help you get on a table fast.
Finally, make sure to take advantage of the “Preferences” section to help you customize your games. The options include setting your default actions such as auto-muck or auto-post blinds. There are also options that allow you to turn off animations and sounds as well as change the color of the playing surface.
Score: 9/10
Games:
Bodog Poker hosts games of Texas Hold’em, Omaha, Omaha Hi-Lo, Seven Scard Stud, Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo and Five Card Stud. The games vary between No-Limit, Pot-Limit and Fixed-Limit. As with most online poker sites, the majority of ring-game players compete on the low-mid stakes No-Limit Texas Hold’em tables.
Score: 9.5/10
Competition:
The players at Bodog Poker are generally recruited through the Bodog Casino and Sportsbook, so they are generally inexperienced players. These players congregate primarily on the lower-stakes No-Limit hold’em tables where the viewed-flop percentage averages in the low 50’s. The looser play that is found on the smaller-stakes Limit and No-Limit tables generally tightens up as the stakes increase.
Score: 9.5/10
Rake Structure:
The rake at Bodog Life Poker is the industry standard: 5% of the pot with a max rake of $3. At the lower stakes tables, however, and at tables with fewer people the max rake drops off significantly.
Score: 8 /10

There is 24/7 telephone and e-mail support. e-mails are returned quickly and are very informative. Over-the-phone personnel are quick and helpful as well.
